News CAMCO BRINGS LIFE TO THE ROMAN RUINS OF TRIER
November 2004 - The 'Kaiserthermen', or Roman Imperial Baths, is one of the city of Trier's most famous attractions. Every year, the venue plays host to the 3-night Kaiserthermen Open Air music festival, this year featuring a diverse roster of artists, from heavy metal specialists In Extremo and Schandmaul to the yodelling alpine rock of Hubert von Goisen.

Trier-based sound rental company Pro Musik GmbH was given the task of supplying a PA for the historic setting. According to Pro Musik's managing director Winfried Kornberg. their brief was to design a sound system which could be installed without risk of damage to the historical buildings, which could make the most of the unique ambience of the ancient ruins, but which could also comply with the strict noise regulations imposed because of surrounding residential neighbourhoods.

Not only that, but the system had to handle the wide variety of performers from different musical genres, including headliners Ezio and Laith Al Deen. Pro Musik chose to use a NEXO GEO tangent-array system, powered by CAMCO's Vortex 6 amplifiers. Three racks of Vortex were used to drive a GEO system with 5x T4805s and 1x T2815 downfill cabinet per side, with 4x Alpha S2 subs each side. The monitoring system was also powered by CAMCO, this time using the new Tecton 38.4 amps with a NEXO PS15 stage system.

Event organiser Ingo Popp of Popp-Concerts was clearly impressed by what he heard. ''Please reserve this equipment, exactly this set-up, for next year's concert.''

Winfried Kornberg from Pro Musik was also pleased with the results of the CAMCO/NEXO system. ''Because the system gave us absolutely accurate coverage, we were able to remain within the noise emission limits for the surrounding area, while producing superb sound quality for the audience in the concert arena. The positioning of the stage in relation to the existing ensemble of Roman buildings enabled even low frequencies to be kept within the auditorium. As a result, the sound system was given top marks by the audience, the press, the artists, technicians and the organisers.''
